Pierre Alexandre Tremblay is the new associate research professor in music theory and composition. A Québécois by birth, he lived for nineteen years in England, where he was a professor of composition and improvisation at the University of Huddersfield. A composer and performer on electric bass and electronic devices, he has been involved in electroacoustic and mixed music, post-free jazz bass, and laptop music (as part of the London collective Loop) since the 1990s, as well as the production and performance of popular music. His academic research is also fueled by this approach to musical practice and is expressed through an open and ongoing dialogue with teaching and mentoring in composition (study, instrumental, mixed), studio production (pop, improvised music, jazz), computer music, and sound design. We interviewed him.
